Jasmine + Darin = Engagement!

I recently had the pleasure of taking Jasmine & Darin's photos for their engagement. J&D are from Down East Maine and will be getting married in Machias this summer. I have never done a wedding in Machais and I am very excited! These two were a blast. So fun and laid back, just wanted natural interesting pictures. (which of course I love) so we walked around the Augusta Arboretum and looked at all the trees (Darin quizzed Jasmine, a forest ranger, on tree identifications all along the way) I am so excited to shoot their wedding next summer!

Kara + Mike = Wedding!

My last wedding of the season was Kara & Mike's. A rainy fall day that was transformed into the perfect day by the warm family and friends and beautiful and loving couple, Kara and Mike. I had worked with K&M on their engagement photoshoot and just clicked with this creative and passionate couple. They both love their tattoos and fantasy and creativity which is a couple after my own heart. Kara gave me free range to go crazy with fun editing of their engagement photos and we put a bunch of fun and fabulous results in their guestbook. with all of this, I knew I would also love shooting their wedding. And I did!

Angie + Brian = Wedding!

Angie and Brian got married on a chilly rainy day. Dispite the fact that the weather was not "ideal" it did not make any difference in the joy and fun that this event brought to all who attended. The weather did cooperate for pictures (which I always appreciate) and stopped raining just after the ceremony and for exactly long enough to take the formals. Just perfect!

Erica & Seth got married on a sunny cool day In Rockport. WIth fabulous fall colors and amazing small details, this wedding was very memorable. I know their guests had a great time and so did I!

Abby & Joe's wedding took place at Martindale Country Club in Auburn. The perfect weather for a gorgeous wedding. Abby & Joe were the most down to earth, fun and sweet people (not to mention gorgeous!) and I had such a great day photographing their wedding. Their loving and supportive family and friends topped off this terrific day.

Crystle + Jonas = Wedding day!!

Crystle and Jonas got married in Bangor and had the most PERFECT weather for a wedding, ever! I had a blast shooting their amazing day and I knew I had some great shots so I had to take time and get these up. Everything seemed to flow with perfect ease and once the nerves of the ceremony were over, EVERYONE made the most out of a perfectly planned and super fun reception at the Bangor Ramada.

Crystle= Super cool, gorgeous bride. Got everyone else ready and coolly slipped into her sexy gown with time to spare. Her brides maid had some tears shortly after this, probably remembering her wedding day which wasn't too long before this one.
Look out Jonas...... unfortunately the garters showed through her silky dress so she wore them on her bouquet. Luckily she had some quick thinking bridesmaids. :)

Mary + Greg = WEDDING

Mary & Greg got married on Friday in Northeast Harbor Maine. They ceremony was held on the lawn of the Asticou Inn and the fabulous reception was held in the dining room and deck of the Inn as well. This wedding location was picked by Mary when she was a little girl and all of her dreams came true on August 14th. You'll remember Mary and Greg from the very wet engagement shoot we did a couple of months ago. We joked that they were owed a sunny gorgeous day after braving the rain and that is absolutely what they got. In fact, the weather was the first thing Mary and I said to each other when we met each other at the salon before the wedding.

As you will see, Mary looked absolutely stunning in her gown and antique veil. She didn't want to see herself after she had her dress on so that Greg could see her first. (I know he had to have been impressed) I had so much fun shooting this wedding. We wont mention anything Greg may or may not have done to injure himself the night before and gentlemanly didn't let Mary know until after the vows were said. What a trooper. No matter what, This was a fabulous and amazing wedding. With so many beautiful people almost out shined by the breathtaking scenery I could not wait to get back home and go through the pictures.

I met with Rebecca and Chem last evening as the sun went down at the Portland headlight. The storms held off for us and we got these great pictures in the beautifully golden setting sun. They told me about their first date at Portland Headlight while we were taking pictures there and it ended up being the perfect spot in more ways than one for engagement photos.

I met Kara + Mike for their engagement photoshoot today in Portland at the Headlight. Nervous it would rain AGAIN, I held my breath on my way to meet them. To all of our surprise it was a perfect day for photos and we found all kinds of great places to pose. This couple is so sweet and so easy in front of a camera. I had a great time taking their pictures!

Mary and Greg - Engagement

Today I met Mary and Greg in Portland as well crossed our fingers the rain would stop. Unfortunately, the rain had its way with us today but I think we pulled it off. Mary & Greg are getting married in August so we have all decided this rain was just a test to make sure we truly appreciate the sun shine on their wedding day.

Dani & Travis are married!

Last weekend I had a blast shooting Dani and Travis' wedding day. They held their wedding outside in a park and chose the most AMAAAZING day. (good job guys!) the sun was out the sky was as blue as can be and it was just a fairytale day.

We started the day at the hair salon with the girls. The hair salon happened to be in a mall. The picture below was taken just as a security guard came and told me I was not allowed to take pictures in the mall. He questioned me as if I had some sketchy motive to b taking pictures and I was almost worried he was going to ask for my camera. Good thing for him he didn't because Dani and her mom would have probably tackled him for it along with the other girls. We were bummed because we wanted to take some fun pictures of all the girls goofing off in the mall before it was time to get ready. Oh well, it was fun anyway.
Here is a picture of he rings on a wooden box made by Travis as a surprise to Dani. Inside was a sweet note for the wedding day. He did an amazing job on his gift and I am sure they will cherish it for generations. Way to go Travis!

They chose a great spot for the ceremony. It was Plan B because the huge fountain hadn't been turned on in time for them to hold the ceremony in front of it. So they went with the flow (or lack of flow).

How adorable!!! These two are so in love and are obviously a perfect match!

New look to the website

So, I have been a bad blogger. Way behind but looking to get back to work on my blog. I am announcing a new look to the blog as well as an exciting very new look to the website coming very soon! AS you can see the new logo at the top of the blog. This logo is a small taste of the new image of Loving Eyes Photography. This feels a little like growing up. I am letting go to the old site and image and stepping into the big grown up world. Stay tuned.

Angie & Eric ~ Engaged

Last Saturday was an amazingly beautiful day and a perfect day for a photoshoot. Angie & Eric are including a photo guestbook in their wedding and these are the photo's for that book. We took a walk down a road through their land that Eric has created and Angie loves. We then took a drive to a plot of land that they own, where we took these romantic shots in the field of wild flowers (my favorite place to shoot.) This couple are so obviously in love and completely fun loving. They were a joy to photograph. I can't wait for their wedding at the end of August!!

Must Love Dogs......Contest

Amber and Nick's wedding was Saturday and it was great fun. I have quickly gone through her pictures and thought I'd pick a couple out to post here as a teaser. I am still catching up with the last few weddings so we'll have to wait to see more from Amber and Nick. Amber was so sweet and nice and beautiful! This couple seemed to have a blast at their wedding and I was so glad to be there to capture their day for them. We totally lucked out and the rain held off so I could get the following pictures of them in an adorable field of wild flowers behind the church.

Me & the Strawberry

So when I was taking pictures of Nate and his strawberry, I couldn't help but think of a picture I knew my mom had of me with a strawberry when I was a kid. Well I stopped at m mom's last night on the way home from a wedding [check back for samples :)] and picked up that picture. SO here it is. We had a little strawberry patch on our land and all I can remember was that the berries were the biggest I had ever seen. I was about 4 and this was 1975! Wasn't I cute?!

Nate and I stopped by a farm stand on the way home tonight. I was craving fresh Maine strawberries! By the time we got home Nate and I had already dug into the red quart of goodness. After we got home Nate pulled out this beautiful berry and said "look mom, its shaped like a heart!" I said, "oh lets take pictures of it!" (of course, any chance he'll let me take his picture I jump to it) so here is our little strawberry of love. (which was gone before we even got back inside)

Bahhh Haa bah

I just came back from a weeks vacation in Bar Harbor (pronouced Bahh-Haa-Bah for those not from Maine) it was a pretty rainy week but we ended up with a few hours each day that was dry so I could take a few snapshots for fun. Arcadia National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Maine. I just can't get enough of the beauty of this area. Here are a few of the clicks I made while I there and wasn't gawking with m y mouth open at nature's eye candy.

I had the exiting opportunity to take pictures of Baby Ava this weekend. She is the tiniest little sweat pea, ever! Her tiny feet were delectable and I could hardly focus on taking her picture when I just wanted to nibble on her toes. I had the HARDEST time picking my favorite pictures for the blog so here are several of my favs.

Sonja & Chris

I had the honor to photograph Sonja and Chris on Saturday. They had a beautiful wedding despite (yet another) raining wedding day. The bride was super photogenic and was just the most beautiful, down to earth woman and a pleasure to work with. I am sorting the TONS of fabulous pictures and decided to take a few of my favorites to post as a sneak peak.

Last Saturday, May 17 I had the pleasure of photographing Anika and Brett's wedding in Orono. They chose a beautiful spot at the gardens at the UMaine campus to hold the ceremony. Unfortunately it rained but the rain couldn't dampen their spirits and the wedding went off without a hitch. I ran around shooting their sweet ceremony like a madwoman, under my huge umbrella trying to not block the guests view while working to capture all the important moments of the ceremony. The wedding party were a bunch of dedicated friends and family who patiently stood cold in the rain or under the gazebo to pose for pictures. All in all it was obvious these two were in love and it didn't matter the weather, they were happy to finally be married.

I figured I would post about my ring photos. have found that I get very excited when I get to photograph wedding rings in flowers and bouquets and other creative places. I have been receiving some great feedback when I show brides their photos so I am always trying to top the last set of photos at each wedding. Here are some of my recent favorites.

Lori & Mark

Saturday was one of the most beautiful days of this summer. It was in the 70's, no humidity, sunny, fluffy white clouds and the day Lori & Mark got married. The ceremony was at Bug Light Park in South Portland. Probably one of the most scenic eye candies in all of Portland (and maybe in Maine.) When we arrived it was such a scene from a post card. Perfectly clear, you could see the whole Bay, Windy, so there was a rainbow of 20 or more colorful kites flying in the fields, 100s of sailboats and working boats in and out of the bay, and several families enjoying possibly one of the best days to be at the park all year! The ceremony went off without a hitch. I was so excited to see how these pictures came out and I was not disappointed. Lori & Mark's family and friends were so fun, this wedding was a joy to photgraph. I have only skimmed through the pics so far and have uploaded just a few from the ceremony and will post on the reception later on.

Sheree & Terry - Reception

Friday, Sheree and Terry got married in the fabulous Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston and held their reception at the Hilton in Auburn. Beautiful wedding, gorgeous people and most of all GREAT fun! I haven't gone through most of the pictures yet, but I knew that I wanted to post a blog about the reception right away. This has to have been the most entertaining Garter/bouquet section of a reception I have ever seen.

Here is Sheree throwing her bouquet. She had to get on her knees because the ceiling was too low. One of her bridesmaids caught it.This was the group of guys (biggest most eager group I've seen) On of his groomsmen caught it (or should I say wrestled for it)

This was the bridesmaid's reaction after the DJ announced that the groomsmen was to pull the garter up until the groom says stop. (groom's in the vest)

He's taking his time and making it a show. Everyone including the videographer and myself couldn't stop laughing.

Guest Storybook

Heather and Josh received a Guest storybook for their wedding which included photo's from their engagement photo shoot and quotes from a questionnaire that I asked them to fill out describing their relationship and how the feel about eachother. The couple loved the book and I heard that the guests did as well. This was apparent by the loving words that filled every page. The book is 81/2 inches high by 11 inches wide. 20 pages with a black linen cover. I had a great time designing this one because there were so many great pictures to choose from of their engagement (which included little Noah)

Heather and Joshua got married on Saturday and it was a wonderful wedding! They got married at the Poland Spring Resort and boy did they pick a great place to get married. They had their choice of having the ceremony outside at the gazebo or inside the All Saints Chapel. Heather wanted to base this decision on the weather. So Saturday morning while we were at the hair salon she made her decision (it was a tough one for her) to have it in the chapel. It just felt like the right thing, she said. Well it turned out to be JUST the right thing because it started to sprinkle just as we were walking out of the hotel to go to the chapel. Luckily the perfection of the day didn't end there, just as the ceremony finished, the sun came out! Just in time for some formal shots will their family and friends. There were so many beautiful places to do the portraits, we ran out of time (plus we were all getting hungry) so we went to several gorgeous places but not all of them. Luckily Heather & Josh's family and friends were so supportive and patient, we got lots of great shots in some really pretty places. This whole crew was loads of fun (and very good looking) I truly enjoyed photographing their wedding day.

Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Alison & Ken's wedding. What a great couple and amazing family they have just officially created. Alison and Ken each have 2 gorgeous children. Heather and Garrett got married a couple weekends ago at a little fort on a peninsula on the coast of Maine. A perfect June day. They had a small intimate wedding and it was just beautiful. The sun, the water and the melodic chime of the navigational bells in the bay made for a magical ceremony I am sure no one will forget. This family was obviously full of love and fun so I had a wonderful time spent capturing their special day for them.

Josh & Heather's Engagement Photo's

Thursday I went to Fort Popham with Josh & Heather to shoot their engagement photo's. They also brought their son Noah. It was a beautiful bright sunny morning with a chilly windy but we had a blast. Noah got to experience his feet in the sand for the first time and even tried to take a little unexpected swim. He was a little trooper. It was wonderful to see this loving family interacting with each other in such a beautiful environment.

Coffeetable Books

This year I switched from offering traditional photo albums to custom designed coffeetable books. Well, I received the first order in the mail today and I am more than impressed. This book has a beautiful glossy hardcover and it bound with precision. The company I use to print from is a high end professional book printer and these books are priceless. They use high end archival paper which should last as long or longer than a picture book you can buy at the bookstore. This book is on the lower end of options for books at this company so I am excited to see their higher quality books. They should be stunning. This particular book even arrives with a frosted hard plastic sleeve to prevent damage to your book for many years to come. I designed the page layouts using the couple's favorite photographs and favorite moments. I just can't get over how nice this book came out. I printed two to keep one as a studio sample that I will show to potential clients.

Why Weddings?

I've been asked.."What do you like best about photographing weddings?" well isn't it obvious?? A wedding day is the prettiest day of a woman's life (second only to pregnancy:) ) and the most meticulously planned event of a couple's life together. A whole day made especially for family, beauty and love. It brings out the best in people. I am sure you can agree, most people look their best when they are smiling and feeling positive emotions. Weddings are designed for positive emotions. What better place for a photographer to find willing and happy emotional people all in one place. You will see a lot of emotion in my photographs. My favorite pictures are the one's captured when the subject didn't know I was there.

My life's passion

Hello, I have decided to start a blog to chronicle my journey into my life's passion, Photography. I have always loved to take pictures. I have always had a camera and as far back as I can remember photography has been a huge part in our family life. It wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered that photography is actually my life's passion. It took having an adorable child and a great camera that I realized that I could could take my lifetime of snapshots into the next level of artistic expression.

Through taking tens of thousands of photographs, I have discovered that my style of photography focuses on details. One of my favorite details are the eyes. Eyes of all colors and ages can help me tell their story through the photograph. My son's memorizing blue eyes have been the subject of much of my favorite pictures. The first thing I notice in a person that I will be photographing is their eyes.
